…as I am wont to do. It is never wise to refuse an invitation to spend some time in Blake Howard’s rapidly expanding podcast empire.
I made three (I think?) appearances on his ambitious One Heat Minute project, which dissected Michael Mann’s crime epic, Heat, one 60 second block at a time, and now I’m making my second appearance on All the President’s Minutes, which is doing more or less the same for All the President’s Men, Alan J. Pakula’s magisterial 1976 account of Woodward (Robert Redford) and Bernstein’s (Dustin Hoffman) investigation of the Watergate break-in. I know, I know, it all seems so quaint in light of the current situation in the White House, but it’s still a hell of a film.
As is customary, we tangent pretty hard on this thing, fractally spinning out ruminations on Life During Plague Time, political corruption, systemic oppression, and other fun topics. You can listen to the whole thing here. Or possibly below if I can figure out the embed.
